WWYD - $109 Prog Bounty SCOOP

Alright wind chimers...been watching well and playing badly in SCOOP, want your opinion on this hand.

Hero is SB with AKo with 217k blinds at 2.5k/5k (625 ante). One bounty locked up for a little discount and recent table move with maybe 30 mins to cash. Stack about average. No info on players.

UTG with bounty worth $37.5 shoves 107k - 21BBish...fold to cut-off who shoves his 491k stack which covers rest of players bar BB give or take 30k. Button folds, your decision...

WWYD and why?

Fold.

Don't expect him to shove too widely when matey only has a $37.50 bounty.

Do you think a call by chippy would look stronger?

Without knowing them it's impossible to know.

In a $100 tourney, would make me think he could be having a spin as likely as trapping with Aces.

I'd try to win the hand, if this wasn't possible I'd fold.

Fold

If you lose to utg and beat chippy you only get your chips back, no point in risking that. So you have to beat 2 all ins with AK isn't impossible but you have to hit while they have to miss.
If they both have pairs smaller than kings then they have an 18% chance of hitting trips, which in my view you're 18% dead and only have a 35% chance of scooping the pot.

Fold

Pre flop.you have AK .my chips go in.
Bounties have an effect on people.once the first player has pushed other big stack could be going all in with a lot worse hands than AK trying to isolate and win the bounty.
You got about average stack.if you win the hand.you have a big stack near the money..so you can do some damage with it.

UTG has no reason to shove 21 bigs just yet and the cut off shoves because he does not want anyone (like the hero) creeping in if he calls. You'd have to suspect that one of them has a pp - even if they are 2's - and that makes AKo 2nd favourite. If calling, the hero is playing for the main pot as its worth 340k as against the 200k side pot (very roughly), but to beat the cut off means he breaks even(ish).

So if you think the hero has the cut off crushed then its a call. If not its an easy fold.

Sammy, what you don't say is the stage of the tournament. The fact that you've not mentioned the money probably means its a distance away. That would weight on my decision.

Oh yeah, "30 minutes to cash". I'd be more inclined to cash and then hope to smash it in with the sort of crap Sammy and Richypal call premiums :-)

Sheddy is the bounty king.

I don't know what he would do but for me with my limited experience in these games... CALL 100% and go back and call again.

Possibly why I am shit at them because I don't race well, but in my view this is what I am thinking... bounty players are greedy fuckers who don't see the end result, only that one fucking bounty!!

I have been sat there with AA in this scenario before and lost when the greedy chippy does exactly this with K8o just to get the bounty.

Whack 'em in, take the shorties bounty and get yourself a nice stack to go win some more... is the theory.

(unless it was 30 mins to cash, then I fold like a girl :hide:)

2 ways to play bounty tournies

1,Play normal game and consider bounty just a bonus
2.Bounties is prio taking as many pops as possible to pick them up with very large range.

The ol adage "if you let the buyin dictate your play you are out of your depth" gos out the window in these games the calling range you need has less to do with your cards and more to do with your stack and position and price on ppls head.

IE 10 buck game your BB 100k stack with 83 off and 20k 5 buck bounty shoved its a piss easy call if its a 50 cent bounty and 120k stack shoving even folding KK may be acceptable.

Aggressive bounty hunting can very often mean getting 4th or 5th place prize money and not even making FT

Played a 2 buck game yesterday about 3 hands in I am BB 85 clubs shortie ep 400 chips or summat shoves and 2 callers both just 2\300 under starting stack go allin turned my 85 into a monster haha. ok in normal tourney this a big - EV in a bounty game the opposite.

Bill, you should also mention how a bounty tournament affects other people's play as well as whatever strategy you choose to use yourself.

This can then have the knock-on affect on your own strategy.

Interesting hand. I was the player with the AK and Sam was watching.

It had been a rollercoaster tournament and I had already lost a big pot with Ak suited to AA.

I decided to fold the AK here. I only had small blind of 3500 invested in the hand and reckoned at least 1 had a pair. If other had a big Ace I lose an out to beat the pair. The shorty had AK suited and the big stack had TT. The flop was Ten high and I would have gone out.

Sammy was convinced it was a call but I was not sure. Hence why we posted it as a WWYD. Good to see views from both sides. I guess in a bounty the big stack will shove to isolate light to have a crack at the bounty.

There was one other interesting hand. I have just over 400k and blinds were 15/30k and I get dealt JJ. There is a raise to 66k (880k stack) and a reraise to 220k (650k stack). Jacks was the best hand I had seen for ages and I shoved. The 880k stack also shived and the other guy folded. The other all in turned over AQ. The board ran out K high with no ace or Q and I am now on 1.2m. The 650k stack was cursing as obviously folded AK. Lucky escape for me.

So there are 209 left and I am in 122nd place. 6758 started. 5th day 2 from this scoop and not had a decent payday yet. Hopefully this is the one.

Didn't have time to type much out at all tbh has to go out and brave the legions of walking dead and head to the chippie :D

A 100 buck tourney obv different from a 2 buck game in so far as the deeper the pockets you have the more you can play like a maniac this ofc is something you can glean over a couple of circuits so in answer to what Rich says about others play affecting your decisions esp in allin situations the biggest factor for me is stack sizes.

Happy to fold AK to a bigger stack no matter what shite hes throwing in as your gain may not matter greatly so the risk reward is low and there will be better spots esp if a few shorties with large prices are lurking about,if you have larger stack the reward goes up in value.
If you like bingo bounty tourneys are for you haha.

With AK I much prefer to be the aggressor than the caller when tourney is on the line. The 21 bb shove UTG is likely to be anything from Ax to small/medium pockets who rarely want to raise 10% plus of their stack only to c bet have to fold a non ace broadway card flop. The over shove from the big stack says to me similar so sitting with your hand you are at very best racing with some of your outs gone.

That’s what we would have done in 2006 where a bounty was something you ate while playing!

Biggest question you need to ask yourself here is does a min cash mean a lot to you? if yes fold.

If we put our self in the isolators shoes, what do we reshove? AA KK we shouldn't we should flat these hands, AK QQ we should mix up between call and shove. The most likely shoving range here should be 99-JJ and AQ with some AJ AT sooted hands often you see much wider in these games.

So for me due to the booty involved its an easy call.

my 2 cents

If this was stars (it is) or party i would take a bit to think about it, if it was unibet, MG or GG i would be sticking it in while registering for another cause im getting sucked out by k5suited
