Conor McGregor v Donald Cerrone

Post: # 36661Post LittleMate

I know very little about MMA but I'm interested in this fight because its McGregor. Usually I want to see the caulifower ripped apart but this time I'm actually interested in seeing if he's still got anything to give. I've watched the replay of his last fight against Nurm.... and thought he was second best - and that was 15 months ago.

So what's the view of our experts this time round?

Should win, and should win by KO.

If he doesn't, might as well fight Nate and fly back to Dublin.

So its a bit of a warm up fight in preparation for a showdown type fight?

Definitely not a warm-up. Conor is ranked 4, and Cowboy is 5. This is a showdown fight, more on the line here than ever.

The Conor that fought Alvarez wouuld be too good for Cerrone. Cerrone a notoriously slow starter in his fights, whereas Conor is always on as soon as the bell rings, and the first couple rounds are always his best.

hey are, however, fighting at welterweight, which just means neither of them has to go through a weight cut. It does mean Cowboy will be bigger than Conor, as I imagine he walks around about about 185.

Think Conor is ~2/5, Dougie.

Who's Conner?

Lol @ posting the TMZ video of that. Old news. You been under a rock for 6 months, Marlon?

Agree that it will likely be a submission if he loses, though.

What do you make of this gentleman McGregor act?

Look at him being so nice, trying to get redemption no doubt?

Still he says he is at his peak, and wasn't v Khabib as he had lost the plot.

He also claims he wants rounds in the bank! (got plenty of dough I guess).

So hopefully he will win it and get to fight either Ferguson or Khabib, which will be a mega fight, either one!

Looking at the weigh-in, it all looks a bit one sided but what do I know?

Both at 170? Guessing that wasn't meant to happen.

But Conor looked pumped already. Cowboy just being a nice boy.

Can't see any dramas. 2 round maximum.

Probaby was meant to happen, the fight is at 170 :D

Look at any of Cowboy's fights, he's always like that.

Conor has been more laidback than usual, first time I've seen him not throw one insult in the build up, lol.

Cowboy will have had to cut some weight, but likely Conor won't have cut anything more than a pound or two.

2 million, it would have been. Only if Conor made what he said he thinks he will from the fight.

Mate told me yesterday it was the 4th highest PPV event ever, not sure where he got that from, and haven't checked myself.

He got a $3m flat purse for the fight, but obviously he and Cowboy will likely be the only ones getting any PPV points.

Along with the other gazillion sponsors he has.

You're about as far off the mark as you could be, lol.

You ask almost any fighter, and they're glad of everything he has done for the game. They're all getting paid a lot more than the $8,000-$8,000 lots of fighters got years ago. Eyes on the sport is good for them all.

This. If it wasn't for McGregor, I would never watch. Ok I don't pay but there are millions around the world who do so it has brought the sport some real prominence and all the money that goes with that.

McGregor was paid the same as Ronda Rousey was paid
https://www.mmafighting.com/2020/1/17/2 ... at-ufc-246

https://www.mmamania.com/2017/1/1/14138 ... he-way-mma

Granted the fight was 8 seconds shorter but the payouts are more or less the same for the rest

The fight fee, is only a percentage of what they make.

She prob made 8 figures from that fight, though unlikely as much as he did.

Stephen A Grant is an idiot.

Him and the white fella from NBC, they seem to want to discuss everything extra loud and try and argue the best.

To be fair the white fella wins most the arguments.

Him claiming McGregor performance proves nothing, proves he needs to go back to talking abou Basketball! Mug.
