For the math boffins
Can anyone work this out please, I can’t get my
Head around it, how many combinations of 6 is there from 15 numbers, order is irrelevant, for example 123456 is the same as 234561 so that’s still 1 combination
Hope I’ve made it clear enough

Re: For the math boffins
Or alternatively what would be the cost for example of this bet
Say it’s football, I want to pick 6 teams to win from 15 guesses, the order is irrelevant, so if 6 teams do win from the 15 I selected how many combinations would be involved in the above example

No, no doubles or trebles
Just 6 number combos, so any 6 from 15 selections, order is irrelevant

But I don’t think it’s correct, I see what you’ve done and this is where I was struggling
For instance there should only be 1 result for 15 as the order isn’t a factor, see what I mean?

Pretty simple but time consuming to work it out and did so years back when lottery first started and you used to see some on the "pools" years back ie perm any 5 aways from 10 matches ect ect,if you wanted any 2 from 5 unique combos it would be 12 13 14 15 23 24 25 34 35 45 do you can do the same principle for 6 from 15 but would give me a right headache so will pass haha.
No doubt theres an easier mathematical formula around and if I ever knew it I forgotten it now haha.Dunno if there are any "pools" companies or similar kicking about or maybe even fixed odds bookies coupons could provide an accurate total for ya.

5005 maybe
Re: For the math boffins
Deffo 5005.
15x14x13x12x11x10 =3603,600
Divided by 1x2x3x4x5x6 = 720
3,603,600 divided by 720 = 5005
Same formula for all multiples

Re: For the math boffins
Aha, was going to post exactly this. This is a specific maths ‘operator’ as well guys...like add or minus or multiply etc.
If you ever want to know the answer to this quickly, the terminology is “15 choose 6”.
Type it in google as that and you always get the answer right. Nice work Tim

Old bookie skills before the computers took over mate. Same as 1+1+1/2+1/4 for 13/8 instead of tapping in x2.625. Those were the days lol.supashammy wrote: ↑October 7th, 2019, 3:01 pmAha, was going to post exactly this. This is a specific maths ‘operator’ as well guys...like add or minus or multiply etc.

Anyone from that era will remember the Union Jack which was 9 bets (8 trebles and an acca). My old maths teacher used to come in on a Saturday and put a UJ on with ew round robins on each treble the bastard and he would have it worked to the penny!

Nice work Tim INDEED I only put 5005 "maybe" incase I miscounted to 6 haha.
Good tip with the terminology Sam tried it with the lottery 49 choose 6 and came out with 13.9 mil and change and is about 10000 times faster and more accurate than my original calculation 30 year ago give or take when the lottery first started haha
On a side note are these "smart phones" able to recognise a command like 15 choose 6 yet????
