flight question (anyone)

Last year thomas cook sent us an email .night before we flew to vegas.telling us our flight was going to be 4 hours delayed.when we got home we got £700 each comp in flight vouchers.

Today we got an email from thomas cook saying we are now on a different flight coming home from vegas this year (the flight is 9 hours later) which is a cauliflower (means extra day of work etc)
(Its 4 months before we go to vegas)
Whats the chances of another compo claim being succesful ?

Last minute changes are covered by EU261 regulations, anything over 3500km and 4 hours delay is €600 each. (Wonder if the government will transfer this to UK legislation post Brexit?)

Planned changes ahead of time are covered by the airlines T&Cs.

If they give you more than 10 weeks notice there is no compensation offered irrespective of whether of you accept the change or take the opportunity to cancel.

Went into thomas cook on sunday, told them we are not happy with the new flights because of the times and arriving back in edinburgh instead of glasgow, so we said we will just cancel them and go online to see if we can find more suitable flights (but we will still book them through thomas cook),she tells us they have given us alternative flights ,so if we cancel we lose the full flight money £1,864 ,that cant be right can it?

phone their call centre. Pretty sure you can cancel if they make changes that do not suit you.

It is a significant change as destination airport has altered. A full refund is payable:

If you do not want to accept a significant change, Thomas Cook Airlines will, if they are able to do so, offer you an alternative flight at no extra cost to you. If you do not want to accept any alternative offered, you can choose to find a different flight via this website and pay the difference (if it is more expensive) than your original flight cost. If you wish to change to an alternative flight that is lower in cost than your original flight cost, you will receive refund of the difference in price. Alternatively, if you do not want to accept the alternative offered, you can elect to cancel your booking and receive a full refund of monies paid to us, except any amendment charges. Unless the change has resulted from circumstances beyond the control of Thomas Cook Airlines (being any event that Thomas Cook Airlines or the airline could not foresee or avoid, even after taking all reasonable care), compensation will be paid for a significant change in accordance with the table below, per customer, per sector.
