At the time of the crash he was looking for something (not a pun) to invest in after his career was over. My mum saw him at the local bingo hall in Corby a couple of times and it was after a visit he had the crash. Saw him play for Leicester quite a few times and he was brilliant but one day he got injured in the prematch warm up and Leicester had to call on the reserve keeper. There was a groan round the ground - he was replaced by Peter Shilton - those were the days!!

Very true Dougy. Just think of the money we’ve spent on World Cup squads, accommodating under achieving over paid England players in World Cups since. I believe Bansky had to sell his medals for less than a pretty average PL player gets a week - disgusting

RIP to the best keeper ever. Never tire of watching that save. He just gets up and gets into position for the corner.
Continued playing with only one eye and won league in America with Fort Lauderdale and voted best keeper in league that season.
A true gentleman.

FA must have made countless millions off the back of the 66 heroes and agree completely with all the disparaging remarks concerning the FA !!! some like the Charltons, Roger Hunt in business have done ok but others not so great hell i think Nobby lost his marbles 10 year ago or so however they put up a testimonial for Rooney who IMO deserves one for service but they snubbed these boys big time from Bobby Moore downwards.

Was a nice piece from Pele over Banksy which is not a surprise from footballs greatest ever ammbassador and debatably player also.

My Dad's best mate was Peter Bonnetti ex Chelsea and 7 times capped in the era of Banks as no 1.

He is not very well and has alzheimers now I believe, and was just speaking about him to my Mum wondering, then next thing Banks passes away.

I wont say at least he beat him at something, but yes a great keeper as was Bonnetti, but and Peter would admit because i asked him a long time ago, he was the best of the era.
