Found it flying from Gatwick for £600 all in.

That's flight, with baggage, and transfers both ways from Alicante.

Cos it will be roasting in Bendidorm and pissing it down in Cheltenham 8-)

I have a provisional booking for the same Apartments I stayed in over Christmas last year and can get it for £137 plus flights of around £94, only 10 minute walk from Dougie's Hotel which is right on the main strip.

Tempted to just book the flights myself then try to round a few of the guys up later.

Didn't go this year, as one of the lads got his bird up the duff, but the 2 years before that, we got a villa in Tenerife, and plotted up there for the week.

You'll do about £300 a night for a Holiday Inn, if you want to go to Cheltenham for the festival, and have about 50k pissed up morons around you.

Alternatively, you can plot up at this gaff we stayed at. Bit of nicer weather, a load of nice bars & restaurants, and your own pool/hottub 8-)

Nice one marky, you will be and rock star amongst the scooter brigade :D

Yes you can get a bet there, used to be the winning post but they couldn't have been bunging the cops enough,so now the Gallowgate pub has taken over ,no need to hide bets all done in the open (they must be bunging the cops enough )
It's a racing crowd who go that week, watch the racing in any pub (sitting in the sun) or there's a pool bar ,used to have a 50 foot screen think they have doubled the size this year, bucket of beers on ice ( €8 with 5 bottles in a bucket) drinks in the pubs at daytime €1.50 a pint .Or my fav €2 for an espresso and large brandy.
After racing pubs open to about 6am everyone with 5 or 6 live acts on each night (comedians/singers/tribute bands)
What's not to like :D

It's actually run by a Celtic supporting family Bill, it's about 100 yards from the hotel I stayed in at xmas and I only found out it had a bookies next door the day before I flew home lol.

The guy who owns the Gallowgate pub is in exile in benidorm.
He made the mistake of trying to open a taxi firm in Glasgow (which is not allowed) so the guy who runs the taxis in Glasgow tried to have him shot.so he had to move abroad. And who is the guy who runs the taxis in Glasgow?
His brother

One thing you have to be careful about in the bookies is the timing of your race as the actual UK race time doesn't show on the telly screens, so for example you are backing something in the 3.30 the screens actually show 4.30 and if you get pissed like I did and just put the number of the horse down then you aint got the runner in the 3.30(my horse won) but you have the runner in the 4.30(it lost). To be fair to the guy he actually voided my bet and returned my stake.

I'm up for this too. I had a great day in a pub in Galway following Marky and Dougies Cheltenham tips.

I wont book anything yet as I need to confirm some other dates but would appreciate it if someone bumps this thread around September time.
